The Second National Flag design was officially adopted by the Congress of the C.S.A. on March 1, 1863. It was named the "Stainless Banner" and was also referred to as the "Stonewall Jackson Flag" Eventually it was replaced since it was often mistaken for the flag of surrender on the battlefield. |
